This weekend San Francisco played host to the 12th annual Leather Leadership Conference, a one-of-a-kind national event that seeks to educate, inspire and bring together the leaders and activists of the BDSM, Leather, Kink and Fetish communities. With over 50 professional level programs, interactive workshops and presentations, the conference is much more than just a social networking opportunity; it's a chance for both new and existing leaders to come together and learn how to better serve the communities they represent. From defending our sexual freedoms to planning our Fetish balls, this group of motivated individuals are the ones who are fighting for our right to be kinky.

From Princess Donna's cavernous pit room, to Cyd Black's ominous torture workshop, to Matt Williams' classic wrestling arena, Kink.com's Directors have already helped transform many of the Armory's numerous empty rooms into amazing new sets. Under the imaginative leadership of Xgaw, Kink's Director of Arts and Facilities, the art department crew and scenic painter have been hard at work continuing to turn the Directors' visions into stunning realities. After seeing the finished product, it's hard to believe that many of these sets start out as stark white brick and concrete rooms. But it's transformations as dramatic as these ones that prove just how talented the art department really is. While 200,000 square feet might seem like a lot of space to fill, with a building full of creative Directors and Artists like those at Kink.com, each empty room is just a blank canvas begging to be painted.

Ultimate Surrender's members are some of the most vocal and enthusiastic fans that Kink.com has. But while they usually just cheer and jeer from the sidelines, one Ultimate Surrender member decided to get directly involved and recruited and trained a friend of his to be the next big wrestling sensation. Relentlessly hyped in the website's Forums as being fast and strong enough to take on the best that Director Matt Williams had to offer, 'Safari' had a cult following long before she even applied to model. Curious to see if she'd live up to Undietaker's claims of greatness, Matt didn't hesitate to bring her in and pit her against 4th ranked wrestler, Darling. And while it was immediately clear that Undietaker had done some serious exaggerating, it didn't take long for Safari to prove that with or without training, she was still a formidable contender.

Last Saturday, leather fetishists of all kinds came together from all over the country to attend the 30th annual Mr. San Francisco Leather contest. Born out of desire to recognize and promote young trailblazers who embody the spirit of the leather community, the contest has become a time-honored San Francisco tradition. But earning the title of Mr. SF Leather requires much more than just a hot body that looks great in tight-fitting leather (although that certainly helps); the contestants must also demonstrate a genuine commitment to serving the leather community as leaders, activists and organizers. While the competition was fierce, one man stood out among the rest and was named 2008 Mr. San Francisco Leather.

Earlier this week, 2 thieves who called themselves 'Rockit' and 'Famous' stole Kink.com's Flags from the Armory's roof and replaced them with banners bearing their monikers. With nothing to go by but a mysterious audio recording and leather harness, our exhaustive investigation produced no clear leads, and we had no choice but to follow the ransom note's instructions. So we flew the bandits' flags all through the day and into the night, hoping that as promised, ours would be safely returned to us in exchange. When the sun rose the next day and we saw the felonious flags still flying, we worried we might have been the victims of a cruel hoax. But as the first employee walked up the Armory's steps into work, he came face to face with the outlaws themselves.
