When actress/comedian/musician
Margaret Cho first heard "San Francisco,"
the latest song from singer-songwriter and good friend
Jill Sobule's new
album, she knew she wanted to direct the video. Determined to feature landmarks
and icons that embodied the spirit of Jill's song, Margaret headed straight
to Kink.com's studios at the San Francisco Armory, enlisting the talents of Founder and CEO
Peter Acworth,
PublicDisgrace.com and
WiredPussy.com Director,
Princess Donna, writer
Stephen Elliott and local drag queen Monistat. What resulted is a beautiful expression of San Francisco, its inhabitants and everything the city stands for. The song is featured on Jill's brand new album
"California
Years" (in
stores 4/14/09). Just like the
music video, the album could never have been completed without the generous contributions of others; having been funded entirely by fan donations, "California Years" is an album that truly belongs to the community.
