Kink.com's founder and CEO Peter Acworth is ever nearer to realizing his dream of a 24/7 BDSM playspace, a fantasy domain where participants live under strict protocols separating master and servant, and kinky sex is always on tap. The environment, an Edwardian manor house, is currently under construction, and the first of many sets will be completed in time for a live test shoot on March 13th, broadcast from TheTrainingOfO.com. Get the first glimpses at Peter's unfolding vision for TheUpperFloor.com in this Behind Kink exclusive.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to elaborate on what will be happening during the first live show, because I wasn't clear in the interview:

2 trainees, Cherry Thorn and Satine Pheonix, have each been through 2 rounds of training on thetrainingofo.com under Lead Trainer James Mogul and Handler Maestro. The trainees have prepared a written Petition of Application to The House.

A trainee must endure an evening of service on The Upper Floor before being considered to the Slave Class of Service. The job of the live audience is to assist the members of The House to determine whether either of the applicants is worthy of this honor. The audience will be at the dinner party and will assist the House members in assigning tasks and judging the two applicants. Those applicants unworthy of admission may be invited to repeat their petitiion to the house, or they may be sent back down to the lower floors for further training if it is thought there is yet hope for them. Those admitted will endure an initiation ceremony (which will also involve the live audience) and will return for future service, during which time they may progress through the slave class, and have rights over other applicants and lower slaves.

In time, there will be many applicants, slaves of various ranks with various duties, and some particularly promising slaves with an appetite for responsibiity may petition the servant class to assist in the running of the Upper Floor in a more substantial manner.

Please check in on theupperfloor.com where we are developing this concept and community.

Cheers
Peter

Will the parties be invitation-only?

I'm all for new sites/ideas, but if business is so bad that people (stars) like Cyd and Isis get laid off, where did the money come from to develop this idea? Just saying...

This may not be the best place to insert this comment.
However I think that Tomcat could come up with some “fucking machines” as props. Something to the effect of an antiquated turn of the century machine, thereby the Master of the House could “showoff” his/her opulence and wealth with technology befitting of that era.

Can't you block that pathetic troll?

This is a totally insane idea. TheUpperFloor reeks of utter insanity, and of course of pure brilliance.

Just gotta love the pure decadence of it all. It is great to see that Peter views Kink.com than much more than a money making machine, something which is extremely unusual in the adult industry.

It is great to see that James Mogul's ideas are listened to at Kink.com. His talent, skill and vision is so outstandingly brilliant there are hardly any words available to describe it.

The sheer inovation of this project is hard to fully grasp, and though it is obviously financially risky, everyone involved in it at Kink.com deserves unlimited adoration from everyone around the world interested in kinky material.

02/27/2009 1:52 PM peter acworth says:

I agree with James Mogul's brilliance. He has shaped this idea more than anyone else, including myself. I knew I wanted some kind of a filmed community space with rules for slaves and dominants, and I also knew I wanted some kind of period influence, but it was James who helped develop the whole back story, including basing the idea on the structure of an Edwardian Great house.

02/27/2009 2:22 PM peter acworth says:

Hi Vincent,

The recent restructure and streamlining of kink.com is a different story to this. Kink.com grew phenomenally last year, including moving from a 30,000 to 200,000 sq ft building and hiring 50 people, including 2 directors.

We very much miss Isis and Cyd and we hope they will both come back regularly to model or guest direct. we're also excited that Matt Williams and TomCat have an outlet for their bondage creativity, which neither had before.

As always, you can expect kink.com to continue to innovate with new ideas, of which The Upper Floor is just one. We will be releasing several new products this year: a gay site, theupperfloor.com, and at least one other TBD.

Cheers
Peter

Congratulations on your exciting plans. I may be in the minority on this, but I would very much like to see more emphasis on the psychological aspects of the master/slave relationship in this space and less emphasis on machines etc. --Lots of emphasis on rules, rituals. I'd like to see some of these slaves stay long enough to really get it as more than just another shoot. To me, seeing the expression in Devaun's eyes when James explains the rules to her can be hotter than anything else on this site. As an extension of this idea, I'd like to see you do some interviews for prospective slaves in a public space like a cafe. The slaves would, of course have to be dressed appropriately for the occasion and follow rules laid out in advance. Is there a big enough following for this kind of thing? I don't know, but I would certainly pay for it.

I agree mostly with SirLawrence, but you have to admit that a sumptuous steampunk fucking machine with a funny polysyllabic name (perhaps a reference to the old fucking machines which were used to treat 'hysterical' women) would be a totally awesome addition to an anachronistic edwardian 24/7 space.

Additionally, such a device would explode into the blogosphere to the Upper Floor's credit. How can you imagine Violet Blue or boingboing NOT covering it?
