The decision to create the sub-brand 'KinkMen' for our gay male sites was not made lightly. the collective knowledge and experience and research of our marketing department, talent department and of course BoundGod's director, van darkholme, said that presenting our gay male content separately from our 'straight' content was the clear choice to make considering the realities of the market.

you might think that our main reason for making this sort of distinction is to avoid scaring off intolerant straight customers who get turned off by seeing gay content. But while there are definitely many members who continuously make offensive comments and postings in the forums about anything they consider to be 'gay,' the real motivation for the separation is actually the other way around.

from what i've heard, it is common in the gay adult market for customers to shy away from companies that produce BOTH gay AND straight content, believing that their directors and models might only be 'gay for pay' and not genuinely into it.

I think the industry is quite polarized in this way. 'Straight' pornstars go to the AVN awards; 'gay' porn stars go to the GAYVN awards. Of course, 'gay' only refers to men because girl/girl porn is most often made for a straight market. The general assumption out there is that you either you do gay porn or straight porn, but never or rarely both.
