there is a huge misconception all thruout the world to be concerned about a possible employees background. It doesnt need an open mind to concentrate on the relevance one has with the actuall job she/he is applyin for, it just takes a sane ideology. As long as someone does a 555 performance at what he/she is supposed to do, noone should really care bout if they have been in the porno industry.
Very amazing article. A lot of it made me sad. To hear the shit that ex/current models have to go through, IMO, is hideous. I know that I don't know any of them personally, but know that I hope think FUCKING ROCK for you guys.
You guys fucking rock.
Very interesting piece. One lesson the girls might want to draw from this, is to get an education so that they can get a decent job in the real world after their porn career comes to an end.
You forgot to mention that some former bondage models have become successful doms and even site directors at Kink.
If they take good care of the bodies that they make a living with, and continue to work out, they can considerably lengthen their porn careers. We have seen several very good looking MILFs here recently. It is not so much that we want young girls as that we like to see tight bodies.
The experience that Delilah had with day care is terrible. I believe that Kink is playing a role in making porn more mainstream and more accepted by society, just as the gay community is ever so slowly becoming more accepted.
It's nice to see that some are still living and can talk about it. So many are like powerboats that set the throttle as high as they can, turn on the auto pilot and just go until the gas runs out or they hit something.
Hi all,
Does anyone know if men face the same stigmas as female porn stars when they retire?
Vanilla world is nothing more than hypocrites. Do as I say not as I do. Pisses me off to hear someone being judged unfairly. Also a shame when mid twenties is considered old in the adult industry business. Why does ones past work history need to be put on public display anyway?
Very interisting topic... one of the most interisting topics ever - but this seemes too big to be finished within 7 minutes.
Yes, there have been simply too much retirements in the last few years that it would be possible to cope with every model's fate that had worked for Kink.com but if there ever was a good chance to tell what happend to some bondage model legends of the past than you didn't took this opportunity.
How about the models that stayed close to the industry after their retirements like the ones working for Kink.com behind the camera?
Thanks for bringing this topic up anyway.
Greetings
Lee Mellon
thanks for all the comments everyone. i agree with most of you that this piece really brought up tons of questions and issues to explore that we weren't able to tackle with this piece alone. but don't worry, we will take your suggestions along with our own ideas and keep adding to this interesting dialog. glad you enjoyed it.

Great. Delilah is a favorite of mine, and I will miss her personality, showmanship and her body which shows beautiful signs of maturing which makes her infinitely sexier than the 18-21 year old set. The self-righteous churchies at her daughter's school likely recognized her because of their consumer participation in the adult industry, which they will deny, deny, deny even as they run for the U. S. Senate proclaiming family values. Poor Mark; getting sucked in again must be painful. Universal health care (not insurance) would increase the shelf life of workers in this and other industries.
it is a shame that there are so many people out there that are so closed minded. I would love to have Dragonlady working for me, as a web designer or have anyone of the models working for me, as it shows that they are hard working and can put they heart and sole into the work.
to me, I don't care what you proucoues job was, if you if you are changing careers, as long I was giving a job title "model, web designer, IT Engineer, Data Clake" that is all I would want to know.
if any of the models wants to work for me "Big Smile on my face" I would love to have you on my books
barry,
that was footage from Princess Donna's new website that will be coming out this fall. Stay tuned to Behind Kink for more info....

A program for web-development training would nullify the negative impact of the industry stigma. If you put on your resume that you had spent the last few years doing web content development or sales for websites, nobody should ever know. Then, if somebody does claim that you're a porn star, you say, "No, I worked in web development. Where do you get this stuff?", you out them as a potential pervert (by their own standards) and shif the burden to your favour.
On another topic,
Men cannot tell the age of a female performer that accurately. Just by looking at her, we might guess anywhere from 18 to 30.
That will probably put it within 3 to 5 years of her actual age.
The point is, girls can change their age appearance with workouts, outfits, lighting, make-up, behavior (yes, Attitude usually inspires older guesses), et cetera.
I really don't think the masses of bdsm porn fans would discriminate against a beautiful 40 year old domme....
I was distressed by Delilah's experience. This should not have happened . . , and comes from a "club" whose founder said "Do not judge . . " I just want to send Delilah a big hug, and wish her and the others who leave, lots of luck with the future. You deserve it, you brave people!
I was saddened to hear what happened to Delilah Strong. So much for America being "the land of the free." In Quebec, there was a performer named Chantal Renaud who not only had a successful career as a singer, but also later went on to marry the then-Premier Bernard Landry--all very publicly, all without anyone making any negative comments about her.
This is a topic that really deserves to be expanded into one of the 20-minute "documentaries" like the older format. I think it's probably one of the more important issues you guys are in a singular position to explore.
That really is quite appalling about Delilah's experience with the Christian day care center. I wish they would direct their anger at me rather than models. Way to go Delilah by seeming so jovial and forgiving about it! If I was religious, I would take your religious guidance over those at the day care center any day of the week!
Once again very interesting. I'm was distressed to hear about the day care for her child such prejudice from a christen group,mm don't they say "tolerance" and "acceptance" of others. I hope she is ok and doing well now
Just had another thought. it was mentioned that child services came etc etc. i was wondering how parents that perform dangerous jobs such as police and fireman who maybe killed on the job everyday and how there famillies cope with this on a daily basis, I wonder, should that be looked at when considering the effect upon a child??? ok i've grumbled enough, its just gets me on my soap box!
Fabulous interviews and documentary, I really appreciated this honest look into life after porn, and the troubles that the stars have to go through. I just want to put in my unwavering support for all the gals and guys who have to face these questions, know that you, your work, and your trials and tribulations are all appreciated by your fans!

Thank you. I really appreciate this segment. Making kinks in general more "real" and honest is one of the things you guys do so very well; this segment is wonderfully in keeping with that. I think we "in the audience" too easily forget that the models we watch (and masturbate to) are human beings with good days and bad, triumphs and challenges (and children and daycare). Props to the entire Kink team for the great job you all do!
