After six long months of painting, nailing, sanding and removing thirty years of debris, the last two windows in the SF Armory Window Restoration Project have been finally installed. This massive undertaking was a commitment that Kink.com Founder and CEO Peter Acworth made when he purchased the building in December of 2006. From its inception, this process went through many different stages; from first getting approval from the San Francisco Landmark Preservation board, to finding the right kind of window to replicate the Armory's historical aesthetic, to repairing the damage caused by years of neglect that destroyed the original window frames, the project has literally shed some light into the formerly gloomy interior of the Armory, and softened the building's ominous character. Having greatly enhanced the Armory's exterior, Kink.com is much closer to reaching the goal of restoring the building to its original splendor.

Restoring a landmark building like the SF Armory would be a dream-come-true to some.

The restoration and preservation of such treasures is a very worthy undertaking. I am honored to be a member of a site that would do something this grand and wonderful!

BRAVO!!

This is mighty cool!
Just outa curiosity: Is low energy usage one of your concerns in the restoration? Like, when you will install a heating system, or double pane windows for insulation or stuff like that?
That wouldn't "just" be mighty cool, it would be like... the summit of cool ;-).

Good that y'all are doing that - too many valuable things of all types from older years are dissed exactly because they are old.
We live in a town with structures dating to antebellum times and efforts are ongoing to preserve a lot of them.
Best way to preserve buildings is to continue using and maintaining them.
And if you happen to produce lots of fun stuff from inside them, well that's okay too!

Was wondering when that huge commitment would be fulfilled. Glad it's finally finished. The place looks amazing already and you are really making it shine. This will go a long way in improving your persona to the public as a legit business and community minded centerpiece in the city! Any word yet on approval for the landscaping?

I can identify with this project, because I am in the process or restoring a historic home built in 1879.
I will be spending 3 times the purchase price on proper restoration...bringing the home back to original condition.
Great of Kink.com to breath new life into the SF armory building. I know all to well how expensive custom made windows can be...it's a labor of love to be sure.

Many many congratulations to the team. The building looks wonderful. I'm looking forward to seeing it in the real. Carol

Congatulations! It looks incredible. I promised myself that when I visit the US, I'll probably pay a visit and see it.
Love the site.
