Kink.com Raises 2nd Flag Atop Armory Roof

News Image

View Movie: WMV | Real | iPod

Peter Acworth's recent triumph of climbing the Armory's rickety flagpole to hang the San Francisco City flag was only bittersweet, as one more bare flagpole lay nearby, begging to be adorned. But Peter retired early from his career as a death-defying stuntman and sought out a brave employee to raise the second flag in his stead. While more safety precautions, manpower, and time were dedicated to the task, the fears and risks are still the same the second time around. Despite some hurdles, Kink.com's fearless Prop Master, the Korean Owl, managed to install and raise the California State flag on the Armory's second flagpole. Seeing both city and state flags flying high above the Mission neighborhood make Peter want to erect 2 additional flagpoles so that a variety of flags may be flown. He hopes to use the Armory's flagpoles to show the neighborhood that Kink.com celebrates the many different communities and lifestyles that make San Francisco such a wonderfully diverse place to live.

So you have the city flag and the state flag----American flag on display anywhere?

Not yet. The building has four turrets and the potential for four flags... but two of the flagpoles are too rickety to let even Peter climb :-)

Why not install flagpoles that can be tilted down for restring. It's very macho to be brave but lives are too precious to be risked for such ventures. What would happen to the organisation in terms of an accident or in terms of continuity of creative and managerial talent. It is a potentially great organisation of the future and there comes a time when the entrepenurial skills have to give way to a low level bureaucracy and control system, or break it up into smaller units.

Love your pride parade videos, and didn't know about your armory before - awesome!
This may seem like a stretch (where's that rack...), but if it tickles your fancy here's another way you could use the flagpoles to celebrate, in the words of behindkink.com, everybody's "freedom to be who you are, no matter what other people think": On some suitable occasion, like the week of November 29, May 14, or June 5, fly the two flags of Israel and Palestine!
